The Department of English Language is the largest department with over 49 academic staff members. The Department offers major courses for its undergraduate programme, the Bachelor of English Language and Linguistics. It also offers elective and compulsory English language courses for both local and international students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of the University of Malaya.
Our dedicated academic members specialize in areas related to ESL/TESOL/EFL/ESP and linguistics. Apart from teaching department courses, they are also involved in teaching core undergraduate courses at the Faculty level as well as teaching and supervision at the Master’s and PhD levels. Academic members within the department are involved in various funded research projects and publish their work in recognised national and international journals.
