The Faculty of Languages and Linguistics (FLL), Universiti Malaya, was initially set up as a Language Centre on 3 March 1972. The Centre was responsible for conducting language courses relevant to the needs of the university.
On 27 April 1996, the Faculty began to offer courses for its undergraduate programme: the Bachelor of Languages and Linguistics. Currently, there are nine language specializations for this programme: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Tamil. Besides, student also can apply for double degree as well.
