On 14 May 2025, the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics (FLL), Universiti Malaya, warmly welcomed a group of primary school students from the B40 community to Dewan Mengkula as part of an initiative to introduce them to life at a public institution of higher learning. This programme aimed to inspire young learners and encourage them to consider pursuing tertiary education in the future by giving them an early glimpse of university life and academic opportunities.
Organised in collaboration with Tuanku Kurshiah Residential College, the visit focused on activities within the faculty. The students were given a guided tour around the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, exploring its facilities and classrooms designed for language education. A special highlight was a foreign language session led by FLL students through a precision intervention programme. During this interactive session, the primary school students had the exciting opportunity to learn basic phrases in three languages—German, Japanese, and Italian—sparking their interest in language learning at an early age.
This outreach programme also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of higher education and inspire these young students to dream big and envision themselves as future members of the Universiti Malaya community.
